The fact that the outputs just spill out into the outside world makes it a rather messy affair. My solution is a full head cover that creates a liquid lock when paired with the right automation.

My early game solution for this is usually to put a small pool of PH2O (5X5 tiles is plenty) beside the refinery with a metal wall in between and a couple tempshift plates.
